Cookie Policy

Most cookie policies are long because the site is doing a lot it would rather you didn't read about. Ours is short.

1. What a cookie is

A cookie is a small text file a site stores in your browser. It lets the site recognise your browser on the next request — which is how a site remembers that you are signed in, rather than asking you to log in again on every page. Related technologies (local storage, session storage) do a similar job, and this policy covers those too.

2. What we actually use

2.1 On this website (writelio.com)

The marketing site you are reading now sets only what our hosting platform (Webflow) needs to serve the page. We do not run Google Analytics, advertising pixels, retargeting tags, or any cross-site tracking on it. We are not building an advertising profile of you, and we are not selling one.

2.2 In the Writelio app (app.writelio.com)

Once you sign in, we use:

• Authentication cookies / tokens (strictly necessary). These keep you signed in and keep your session secure. Without them you would be logged out on every click, so they cannot be switched off while you are using the app. Set by us and by Supabase, our authentication provider.
• Preference storage (functional). Remembers your choices — things like your active workspace, editor layout, and dismissed prompts — so the app behaves the way you left it. Mostly kept in your browser's local storage rather than sent to us.
• Payment and fraud prevention. When you visit a billing page, Stripe may set a cookie to process the payment and detect card fraud. This is Stripe acting as our payment processor, and it is necessary to take payment safely.

3. What we do not use

To be explicit, because it is the part people care about:

• No advertising or retargeting cookies.
• No cross-site tracking, and no data brokers.
• No selling or sharing of your browsing behaviour.
• No cookie wall — you are not required to accept anything to read this site.

If we ever add analytics, we will add a consent banner and update this page before the first cookie is set — not after.

4. How to control cookies

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings — every major browser lets you do this, per-site or globally. Be aware that blocking the strictly-necessary authentication cookies will stop you from signing in to the Writelio app, because the app has no other way to know it is still you.

Because we do not run advertising or analytics cookies, there is no tracking to opt out of, and no consent to withdraw.

5. Changes

If we start using a category of cookie not described above, we will update this page and, where the law requires consent, ask for it first.
